You know how I posted an image of what comes up when I google myself in google images? Well, the other day I was googling myself (please, as if you don’t google yourself from time to time too) and this other Jessica Moorhouse popped up in the search results. Curious, I clicked on the link to her Youtube account and found out there is another Jessica Moorhouse blogger! This may not seem too crazy to you but my last name is incredibly rare. I’ve never met anyone else with it, and when someone mentions that they know a Moorhouse, chances are that person is related to me. Case in point, when another personal finance blogger and friend of mine mentioned he once had a teacher with the same last name as mine, it turns out that he was referring to my grandma.
Anywho, it’s not just that there is another Jessica Moorhouse out there, but she also has her own blog! Sure, I guess anyone can really have a blog and it’s quite common for people to blog these days too, but this is still really freaky to me. Maybe it’s because when I grew up with all the other Gen Yers, I was taught that I was special and unique, like a snowflake, so I’ve always prided myself in being THE Jessica Moorhouse. There may have always been two or more other Jessicas my classes throughout grade school, but I was always the only Moorhouse.
But now I don’t know what to think! Maybe I should take my BFs name when we get married, but I’m sure there will be other Jessicas with that last name too! Maybe I should start using my middle name more? Or maybe I should touch base with this other Jessica Moorhouse and see if she’s real or from another dimension. At least her blog isn’t about personal finance but still, I can’t get over how crazy this seems.
Have you ever found your Doppelganger? Was Brad Pitt’s character in Fight Club right when he that we are not “beautiful and unique snowflakes”?
