Yakezie Challenge Update - So Close, Yet So Far

If you’ve been a longtime reader of this blog, you may remember me writing a post about how I’ve joined the Yakezie Challenge in the hopes of reaching below a 200,000 Alexa ranking before 6 months have passed. Well, I’m just over the 4 month mark and I’ve come a long way since then. My ranking started at 3 million and has been steadily dropping ever since. That is until I chose to cut down my posts from 5 posts per week to 3.

I’ve been waffling between 230,000 and 215,000 for over a month now and it’s incredibly frustrating! I know I should probably be more concerned with my Google page rank or the number of visitors and pageviews my site’s getting, but I just can’t help it. I set a goal for myself and it’ll drive me crazy until I reach it. Not only is it driving me crazy, but it’s got me over-analyzing everything about my blog. Is the layout too complicated or too simple? Are my most recent posts too boring or too been-there-done-that? Am I not promoting my blog enough? Should I try to write more guests posts and comment on other blogs more? YES? NO? I don’t know anymore!

I just feel like ever since I cut back on posting everyday, there has been something lacking on my blog. Maybe it’s because it’s summer and I’m a bit distracted. I’ve definitely been going out more with friends, gone on a few weekend trips, and I’ve also been a bit busier writing weekly articles for BargainMoose.ca. Maybe it’s just that I’ve been writing pretty much non-stop for over 6 months and I’m finally experiencing a bit of writer’s block. Whatever it is, I’m hoping I’ll figure it out soon so that my stupid Alexa ranking drops more before the 6 months are up.

If you’re a blogger, have you ever experienced something like this? If you’re a reader, are their any particular topics that interest you that I should write about? Feedback is always welcome!
