It’s June 4. Twenty or so years ago today, I was born. Maybe a few more than 20, but that’s really beside the point. The point being that today is my birthday. Now, I’ve never been a real birthday person. I mean, I do love getting a bunch of “Happy Birthday”s posted on my Facebook wall, and the traditional ice cream cake I always request from my parents, but other than that, I usually try to keep my birthdays fairly low key.
I didn’t always of course. In college, almost every year I organized a big shindig at some club. Besides some fun drunken times, they were really stressful to put together, and most times me and my BF would get too drunk and end up arguing about something stupid like parking meters. Moreover, every time I would be consumed with the idea that no one would show up, and I’d be left in some dark club alone, buying myself muff-divers, anxiously watching the door in my glow-in-the-dark “Birthday Girl” tiara. Thank God that never happened, and my friends always showed up, but to this day I can’t shake that fear. Maybe I’ve just watched Sixteen Candles too many times.
Ok, enough about my irrational birthday fears, the purpose of this post is all about how to get free shit on your birthday. Remember that Simpsons episode when Bart tries to cash in all of his birthday coupons but everything he gets sucks? Well, today I want to disprove that theory that no good things are free. Below is a list of things I am going to get today. Yes, a lot of them are food, but it’s my birthday! If I want to eat at Denny’s, Red Robin’s, and Marble Slab, I’m gonna do it. No judgies.
Booster Juice - Free Booster Juice on your birthday when you sign up to their e-newsletter.
Red Robin - Free burger on your birthday when you sign up to their e-newsletter.
Marble Slab - Free sweet treat birthday surprise when you sign up to their e-newsletter.
Starbucks - Free coffee on your birthday when you make an account and register a loaded giftcard.
Blenz - Free coffee on your birthday with valid photo I.D. (though not all stores participate in this promotion).
Denny’s - Free birthday meal with valid photo I.D.
Sephora - Free birthday gift in-store or online when you sign up for a Beauty Insider card (which is free).
My plan is to get all of these freebies, and take photos to share tomorrow as proof that I did what I set out to do. While I was compiling this list though, I stumbled upon this awesome and FREE e-book all about birthday freebies for Canadians from Steve and Lina Zussino from GroceryAlerts.ca. Isn’t nice when someone else has done all the work for you?
What kind of birthday freebies have you taken advantage of before?
