I Did It! I’ve Reached 100 Posts! Now for Some Changes…

Today, I have officially published 100 blog posts since I launched Mo’ Money Mo’ Houses on December 15, 2011 (that’s minus all photo and guest posts of course). That’s 100 posts in only 4 1/2 months, and I’ve gotta tell ya, as much as I am so in love with blogging and so thankful for such an incredibly supportive personal finance blogging community, it’s been tough to write a post everyday of the week for this long. I seriously don’t think I even wrote this much in university, and I did an Arts degree, which was all essays, all the time!

That’s why I’ve decided to scale back a bit. A while ago I was emailing back and forth with Modest Money and I was telling him how I was finding it hard to balance blogging Monday to Friday with my regular life, and he suggested I try blogging on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. After some thorough consideration, I’ve decided that’s what I’m going to do. At least for the next few months, then I’ll see if I want to change it up again. Now, that’s not to say that I won’t on occasion throw in an extra post here and there, but for the most part, it’s gonna be 3 posts a week.

I’m making this change for several reasons. Firstly, as summer is just around the corner, so is my wedding date. Ok fine, it’s still a year a way, but the other night I had a nightmare that it was the day of my wedding and I didn’t plan a damn thing. All I had was a few hours and a giftcard for Shoppers Drug Mart, and for some reason everyone still expected me to pull the whole thing off without a hitch. There is no way I’m decorating my wedding with birthday streamers and balloons, and serving my wedding guests Life brand chips and salsa. Not…gonna…happen.

Secondly, I’ve got a few personal goals that I’ve been ignoring for a while, which I’ll elaborate on a bit more come Monday, and I desperately want to start crossing some of those goals off my Workflowy list. Thirdly, I’ve also got some financial goals I’ve been meaning to pay attention to since I set them in January, so I really want to get my ass in gear!

Last but not least, because summer really is just around the corner, I want to seriously make this “the summer of Jess” (five points to anyone who gets that Seinfeld reference). Every summer I make a list of things I want to do, and for the past few years I’ve just gotten kind of lazy and hardly accomplished any of them. I want to go camping; I want to swim in the ocean (which is literally walking distance from my place); I want to drink beer on as many different patios as possible; I want to frolic in a meadow and take a nap in the blazing sun! And to do all of this, I need to take a little break from the blog-monster.

That being said, I want to say thank you to everyone who has been reading, commenting, retweeting, mentioning, liking, and supporting my blog thus far. It was an idea I had a long time ago and I’m still kind of in shock that it’s happening, I’m doing it, and I’m getting a positive response from it. Props to my sister who designed this beautiful site, thanks to my dad for making the logo, and of course, thanks to my old roommate who came up with the name “Mo’ Money Mo’ Houses”. Absolutely brilliant girl.

Have a great weekend everybody!

What are your goals for this summer?
