Blog Love – Celebrating Easter in Buffalo, NY

| April 18, 2014 | 14 Comments

Happy Easter weekend everyone!

Instead of moping around because this is yet another holiday that my HB and I aren’t able to spend with family, we’ve decided to get the heck out of town for a bit! Nothing too crazy, just a trip across the border to Buffalo, NY. I know it sounds silly, especially since Buffalo is nothing super exciting to local Torontonians, but I am really looking forward to getting away for bit. Since we moved to Toronto from Vancouver last July, the only trip we’ve been on was to Niagara Falls which was only a 1 1/2 hour drive away. Besides that we’ve just stayed in town, so I’m really looking forward to going somewhere new, even if just means checking out some outlet shops, going to the Cheesecake Factory, and taking advantage of happy hour in downtown Buffalo.

I’m also really looking forward to loosening my purse strings a bit. I was thinking about it and I honestly haven’t been clothes shopping since September (and that was just to get office clothes). I’m gonna be smart about it though and write a list of things I need that I know I can get for cheap in the U.S. The deals you can get in the States still boggle my mind. And don’t even get me started on their liquor prices. It’s like heaven! We’re being gouged over here! It’s ridiculous!

I’ll make sure to do a full recap plus a budget breakdown for next week, but otherwise have a lovely holiday weekend! And an especially happy Easter to my top 5 blogs of the week!

    • I know what you mean. That was me pretty much for the past year and a half since I was saving up everything for the wedding then our big move to Toronto. Feels good to be able to afford a few new items for the closet!

Have a good weekend in Buffalo! I completely understand that urge, and if I hadn’t JUST gone on a trip to Halifax, I’d be hoping in the car this weekend too. Enjoy the cheap alcohol prices!

  7. My dad lives in Endicott, NY (4 hours from NYC and you drive through two states to get back to NY, lol) and I look forward to going there for a weekend as it’s a nice change of pace.

TIP, if you like wine, we have lower excise taxes on wine and beer so buy a bottle to take home with you. :)

    • I do love wine and I agree, the US has some amazing wines and wine prices. But since we can only bring back 1 litre of alcohol each, we opted for a bottle of whisky and a flat of beer.
